Celia's Acceptance Response
Dear Ms Ireland,
It is a distinct honor and personal pleasure to have been selected as a 2024 recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award. I accept joyfully.
I will be arriving in Findlay on 9/27 and departing on 9/28 or 9/29. I would appreciate a recommendation of a hotel where I could stay 2-3 nights.
My grandnephew, Carlos Fernando Barberena, will be accompanying me. As a college student at this time, I think this function will be inspirational to him. Of course, the both of us will be delighted to attend the football game. I remember that many, many years ago, as an enthusiastic Findlay Oiler, I was in the Homecoming Parade.
My grandnephew will be traveling from the Washington D.C. area. I will make his travel arrangements. He may leave on Saturday evening or Sunday. Please send me any information that may be given to the recipients’ family and guests.
I can hardly believe that I arrived in Findlay at the age of 18, knowing as little as a teenager knows, and now, a million years later, I am returning to Findlay having lived a full and wonderful life that got started because of a fine University of Findlay education. I am most grateful.
Looking forward to meeting you in person, Celia
